Hololive Catch-Up #1 (2022-Mar-12)
Here is my first attempt to catch up on all the Hololive videos I've missed over the past few months. My method is to go to Holodex and pull up a particular day's videos, scroll through, and attempt to watch anything fairly short and/or that I can appreciate. This tends to be song covers, original songs, short pre-made videos, and segments from the official channels with subtitles.
If a longer stream looks like it was particularly notable, usually because it has a lot of clips listed below it on Holodex, I will try to watch a few of the clips. I will occasionally put a subtitled video into Watch Later if I don't think I can enjoy it right now or if it's rather long. I also tend to flag for Watch Later full streams that I do think I would enjoy even with a language barrier, like some live concerts, karaoke streams, streams of games I'm familiar with, etc.
(Getting around to watching things on Watch Later is a different problem...)
=======
1) 創造 / 獅白ぼたん(cover) | ("Creation" -- cover by Shishiro Botan)
Botan doesn't do a lot of singing, but she has a lovely voice, especially on soft songs, which this one is. Everything is very processed, but deliberately so. I like it.
2) 【cover】 シェーマ(Schema) / Anya Melfissa
I love Anya's singing voice so much, and I wish I knew enough about music and singing terminology to describe why. Her ... register? And ... timbre? Are right in this sweet spot.
3) Passionate! holo Voice Acting Workshop! (featuring AkiRose, Noel, Watame, and A-chan)
Hololive has started (towards the end of 2021, I think) putting out 2 or 3 videos a week on the official channel featuring a few of the members engaging in some sort of presentation/activity, sometimes educational, almost always comedic. They're normally about 10-15 minutes long, and they usually get English subtitles. This one tips the scales at 28 minutes, but it was interesting to see some "live" voice acting. I liked the parts where you learn that sometimes you have to play the wrong emotion for a line reading in order for the right emotion to come through.
Other streams that I looked at a few clips of:
* Anya's birthday call-ins
* Calli's English chat w/ AZKi, Watame, and IRyS
* Choco's collab with Lui and Marine
=======
Postscript:
I started this post WEEKS ago. That's how bad I am about catching up on these things. So now instead of being two months behind, I've shot past three months. Ah well, I got this one out the door. Maybe the next one will cover more than one day!
